FOO DOGS

this stone sculpture which, in turn, sits atop an elaborately carved red jasper base was an acquisition from the period in which trade relations with China had been recently reopened......America was flooded with Chinese "stuff"....Phyllis Ricks, an old friend who had, 35 years ago, managed Lilburn Carre' and Troy Ellis' shop, The Oriental Bazaar, was now working for the Chinese government, managing a section of the vast facility that it had opened in Atlanta......Phyllis Rix would call me when antique or just amazing items came off the loading dock, and I would rush down to view them.....I think this is my favorite of about 500 antiques that I purchased.......then it was over! the Chinese government decided to shut down the operation, and that was that......
