THE STAR OF JOSEPHINE
In May 2009, Sotheby's achieved the world record price per carat for any gemstone at auction when a rare fancy vivid blue internally flawless diamond of 7.03 carats, now named 'Star of Josephine,' was sold in Geneva for $9.48 million, or $1,349,752 per carat. The top bidder also shelled out $39.2 million for Paul Gauguin's Te Poipoi, a painting of a Tahitian scene....he can fly home with his treasures in his Boeing 787 Dreamliner...it's only passenger, to hang his new painting on the walls of his Hong Kong home......
THE SHAWISH DIAMOND RING
Unveiled at the 2012 Baselworld show, the gem was made from a single piece of rough diamond from Brazil, weighing 150 carats. After working for almost a year, the Shawish technicians finally developed the special laser technology that allowed them to cut the precious stone without altering its quality. The final result is simply mind blowing, as no one in this world has ever seen an all-diamond ring before. The VS1 clarity, E color gem has a staggering value of $77 million.
