MARIE'S GOBLET.......?

THIS CHAMPAGNE GOBLET HAS ALWAYS LOOKED SO ART NOUVEAU TO ME. HOWEVER, WHEN I DISCOVERED THIS, ONE OF A PAIR, IN AN ANTIQUE STORE IN SHAKER HEIGHTS, ALMOST 40 YEARS AGO, WHILE SHOPPING WITH BERENICE KENT, BERENICE INSISTED THAT I PURCHASE THE PAIR, AND DECLARED THAT "THEY WERE PART OF THE SERVICE FROM VERSAILLES!" AND "THEY MUST HAVE BEEN TAKEN WHEN THE MOB OCCUPIED THE RESIDENCES OF THE KING, DURING THE REVOLUTION!" I BOUGHT THEM, FOR WHAT SEEMED LIKE A LOT OF BUCKS, SOLD ONE FOR WHAT I PAID FOR BOTH AND KEPT THIS AS A MEMORY OF MY SHOPPING EXPEDITION.....THERE YOU GO, MR. MINGA.....ENJOY....

BALINESE PAINTING

the last of my Balinese paintings...and the most detailed......Balinese painting, fabrics, sculpture, furniture and music are all so deliciously intricate, representing an almost fractal way of seeing the makings of culture....i love Gamalan music, and am continually shocked and a bit disappointed that so few Westerners appreciate it....I was showing the movie Koyannisquatsi to friends, lately......they were annoyed by the Balinese segment that I found so mesmerizing and transcendental......we wear the ethnic prescription goggles we think we need, i guess....
