THE EBEL 1911, SUPERSTAR CHRONOMETER........

Ebel introduced the first 1911 Le Modulor in 1995. While the earlier Ebel Sport Classic Chronos from the 80's used a Zenith El Primero movement, the 1911 Le Modulor used a heavily modified Lemania 1340. Thus, the Ebel manufacture caliber 137 was born. A flyback version of this movement was used by Breguet in the Type XX and Type XXI. In 2012, Ebel sold the rights to the caliber 137 to Ulysse Nardin where it continues to power watches as the Ulysse Nardin caliber UN150.

Long in a drawer, within its original box......it has been returned to wear, after my watch repairman lost my more demure and  beloved lapis-dialed  1911........

Zinnias, Callas and Croquet.......

I remember, as a boy, my grandmother asking me to fold some mauvey-pink paper napkins for a croquet party......i opted to spend hours folding the little cocktail napkins into calla lily shapes and clustering them into a giant zinnia.......Grandpa's dog, Rex, rolled over onto a folding leg of the samsonite card table upon which I was creating this project ........it was like Alice in Wonderland's collapsing cards....fifty flat, pink napkins lying on the grass.......the older i
get, the more fragments of the past float through my consciousness.
