RESEARCH UPDATE ON THE MARQUETRY PANEL, AN EXAMPLE OF "DEKORPISM", THAT MY AUNT LOUISE GAVE ME UPON HER RETURN FROM LIVING IN MUNICH, GERMANY......

Until today, I'd never known "who" made this 'jigsaw puzzle' wooden inlay, given to me by my Aunt Louise Gattis, after her return from Munich, Germany, when I was a pre-schooler, and that has hung in my kitchen for 40 years........It was made by Buchschmid & Gretaux, in Stuttgart-Valhingen, Germany, utilizing the Dekorpier Method....sort of like 'paint-by-numbers', with numbered pieces of beautiful Black Forest wood veneers..... Returned, now, to the nail in the wall, after a bit of micro-crystalline waxing and buffing.........the marquetry memorabilia has disappeared into the context of other nostalgic oddities, some of whose 'history' has been long forgotten....As a kid, and still, I've 'interpreted' this as a gentle anti-hunting statement....thinking that the hunter/animal killer was being distracted from his potential 'prey', the pair of grateful rabbits, by the dachshund, that had wrapped its leash around the gamesman's legs to disengage his attention from the bunnies......
