Afgani and Turkish men and women sold/gave up  their rings and other jewels to 'get out of the Country'.....presumably/hopefully to new found Freedom.......This photograph depicts the anxiety that this caused......Yet, I purchased the desperate man's ring, months later, at an Antiques Arena, in Atlanta.....
