AFTER "NORWEGIAN WOOD"

I first heard Ravi Shankar, live, on the Smother's Brothers Show.....then, moving to Atlanta, attended his concert at The Southeastern Music Hall....in a strip mall.....The next day I signed up for a Yoga class and visited the TM center.......I thought his influence, largely a result of his having been introduced, by George Harrison, to young American hippies, would elevate the consciousness of our people.....however, disco fever swept it all away in a polyester cloud...We have, as a nation, preferred mindless entertainment to the raising of our consciousness, haven't we?
