After all the sumptuously exotic, rich and complex food of the past week, my tastes are drawn to simpler fare....like really fabulous chili....this bowl is looking really inviting right now, following the excesses of the days just past......however, the thin layers of flourless all chocolate-spice cake filled with Valrhona chocolate mousse, a center of caramel crème brûlée, and a cinnamon Breton shortbread base decorated with chocolate work and mushroom meringues still lingers on my palate.........Alon's has that down...in spades! and Alon's is in walking distance from my home....a mixed blessing......
