I finally obtained the new Owen Pallett album.......such a delight...I will never tire of it, I think! A royal heir to the music of Van Dyke Parks..........
Back in 1970 I wrote a letter to Van Dyke, expressing my admiration for his work....He replied by sending me a box of his recordings.....claiming that they never made any money with them and he was happy to send them to me that I might share his work with friends........He was happy to have received a job offer from Warner Bros. Records, as head of the A/V department.......to develop a new idea.....Music Videos....used to promote record sales!....Guess that turned out all right for him.....and a promise...in his contract with WB......that he could create and produce his own works on WB's label.......They never made any money, of course.....
