My career peaked in 1983.....BEFORE the shit hit the fan! Soon after I stood in the limelight, with curtains opened, the vultures and other predators stepped in to ravish and devour.....The business was repeatedly burglarized; my friend and floor manager, Stefan Scott, was murdered in cold blood; I was betrayed by my friend and employee, David Mendoza; systematically exploited by Peter Bathaung and Jeff Meyer; and two goldsmiths, Ron Downing and Lee Cady, fled the city with jewelry that had been left with them for repairs and with jewelry that had been memo'd to them for their temporary inventories......Enough was enough....I was out of there....never to return.........and feeling cynical and betrayed....REED SAVAGE ANTIQUES was a good ride for 20 years, nonetheless......parties at the British Museum with dinners at Lloyd's of London, excursions to exotic places, the opportunity to put my knowledge and tastes to good and profitable use through associations with Sotheby's and other auction houses as well as by business relationships with the wealthy and famous clients that were drawn to my glamourous charisma.......Now, I have practically no interest in all that....another Life!
