a single photo from a nightwalk.......and the edited "art" take, from the raw event to the photoshopped memorable image that supplants the dullness of "Reality"........Even as a 12 year old, I would take a photo, with film...then; make a contact sheet of 56mm x 42mm images; peel the emulsion side of the photographic paper that was then a 'positive'; then make another 'negative' from the emulsion; and finally, make another positive print by combining the new paper negative with medalist paper to make a 'fuzzy', antique-looking print.........A lot of patient work, back in 1957..........Today.....a few manipulations with a keyboard and mouse do the 'work'......The simplicity of the process, and the 'camera-ed upness' of the world, have produced trillions of 'images', producing the illusion that everyone can 'make art' with no effort, whatsoever........to think......in the next 60 seconds, more digital photos will be made...in the entire World..... than in the first 50 years since the invention of film Photography... Likewise, the ease of oozing words has made everyone a poet, playwright or novelist......check out the paperbacks at your local drugstore, then visit a local 'gallery'........Ironically, as the plethora of mediocrity is vomited before us........'serious' Art has thrived, proportionately........The more we 'do'....the more there 'is'........
