I called this type of ring Papal or King rings, when I was younger.......Now that my fingers are older.......they're just 'rings'.....In those 1950's 'Castle and King" movies......everyone always wore 'costume' ginormous index finger rings........a crown, cape, pointed booties and a huge ring...and, voila.....you're a medieval knight, bequeathed a huge ring by King Richard The Lion-Hearted.........My interest in courtly jewels began when I saw IVANHOE, starring Robert Taylor and Elizabeth Taylor....with my parents....at the Lyric Theater........Then began my pleading for "Ivanhoe" rings...which garnered my first 'jewelled finger ring'.....a Bennett Bros., Chicago, 'Bluebook" Catalogue 10k ring, set with an oval onyx and a minuscule diamond chip......it was good enough for then, anyway.........I was 8! I gave the ring away when I was 21....to my first lover, who kept it in a desk drawer.....[like Marlon Brando's gay photos in the Film, Reflections In A Golden Eye]
