THE BLOOMS THAT FAILED TO SHOW THEMSELVES THIS SUMMER........AND THE CONSTANCY OF THE TRUMPET VINES

The Summer of 2014's bunch of osteospermum was growing in an abandoned clay "big green egg" cooker on the deck outside the glass sliding doors.......the flowerswere so exotic and otherworldly.........blooming, nearby, some Oxalis, whose leaves are the same, but more saturated, color.........bordered by a darker purple........little pink trumpet-shaped flowers... tipped from their delicate stems.......This year, as in the past, hummingbirds drink from the huge clusters of waxy orange trumpet vine flowers that they share with bees and wasps that also love the sweet, delicious nectar.....

For convenient access, the petals fold in the middle to contain the dew.,.perfect for a hummingbird's long tongue to again access to their sweet cocktails, while bumblebees enjoy the tasty golden pollen at the flowers' centers..... The orange trumpet vine flowers are, fortunately for these critters, super-abundant this Summer...

nearby, on the ground, once grew the many more delicate pink and purple Oxalis, the 'false shamrocks', whose leaves are the same, but have a varyingly saturated, color.........bordered by a darker hue........little pink trumpet-shaped flowers are tipped from their delicate stems...Perhaps, they will be late bloomers, this year.
